Has anyone tried adding a mini switch to a Tailwind garage door opener? I want a physical way to open up my garage door without using my phone.
@apez53 It sounds like you’re looking for a way to integrate a physical switch with your Tailwind garage door opener. While I don’t have specific information about using the Aqara Wireless Mini Switch with a Tailwind opener, I can offer some general guidance on using Aqara products for similar purposes.
The Aqara Wireless Mini Switch is a versatile device that can control various smart devices with single, double, or long press actions. For garage doors, the Aqara Dual Relay Module T2 could be a more suitable choice. It can control devices like garage door openers using dry contact mode. You would need to ensure compatibility with your garage door’s wall button contacts, as the relay can control the existing motor by connecting to these contacts.
Here’s a brief overview of how you might set this up:
- Dry Contact Mode: The relay uses wall button contacts to control the motor. You would connect the relay to these contacts, allowing it to open or close the door.
- Installation: Ensure the relay is correctly wired to your garage door controller, and test to confirm it opens and closes the door as expected.
If you decide to proceed, please exercise caution and ensure safety, especially when working with electrical components and moving parts.
For a more accurate setup and troubleshooting, I recommend reaching out to the community for shared experiences or consulting with a professional. Additionally, if you need further technical assistance, feel free to ask!
I added it to an Aqara mini switch and it works great. Place it right by mine garage entrance and also added one of the buttons to turn off all lights as I leave.
Thank you. That’s exactly what I’m planning on doing.
