due to my door limitation (opening outward) I am able to invest only in Tedee PRO smart lock, which requires a minimum size between the key hole and door frame. I have read that Tedee PRO contains matter support. I am wondering if the lock contains the support or the lock + Tedee hub contains it? How it usually is with non-aqara matter devices ? Can they be controlled standalone by Matter HUB (e.g. Panel S1 Plus which I own currently) or is it always HUB ↔ HUB communication? Does anyone have any similair Matter devices connected (preferably smart locks? )? I would very much like to bound this lock with aqara automations (e.g. using Aqara Doorbell + control lock/unlock of Tedee smartlock within Aqara App automation).
I am aware that the devices can be interconnected via e.g. Apple Homekit, but if possible, I would rather have all automation in Aqara App right now.
I don’t have the Tedee lock, but Matter devices can be “borrowed” to other hubs by using the Matter pairing code exposed by the ecosystem of your paired device.
This “borrowing” will share the device to another ecosystem (like Aqara or HomeAssistant). And it will either:
- pair it directly with the second ecosystem (no middleman) if it’s a Matter device that doesn’t require a hub of a specific ecosystem (like an Aqara U200)
- pair it with the hub that exposes your device to Matter (because beyond this point, your device is not Matter)
Basically this “borrowing” creates additional authentication key on the device and the device will respond to another admin hub.
If your Tedee lock is Matter enabled then you should be able to pair it with S1 Plus (or other Matter Hub) and use it in both Aqara and Tedee app (given you use the pairing code from the app, not the initial pairing code)
