Tips for Setting Up Smart Lighting Automation

I’ve recently been diving into setting up smart lighting automation in my home, and I wanted to share some tips and experiences that might help others who are just starting out. :star2:

One thing I’ve learned is the importance of testing your rules thoroughly. I had a rule set up to turn on my hallway lights when the front door opens, but it wasn’t working consistently. After some troubleshooting, I realized the issue was with the sensor placement—it wasn’t detecting the motion reliably. Once I adjusted the sensor’s angle, everything worked like a charm! :bulb:

Another tip is to use a combination of schedules and triggers. For example, I have my living room lights dim to 50% at sunset and then fully turn off after 30 minutes of inactivity. This has saved me a lot of energy and hassle. :alarm_clock:

I’d love to hear from others—what are your favorite smart lighting automations? Any common pitfalls you’ve encountered and how you overcame them? Let’s share and learn together! :handshake:
