Hi everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience transitioning from SmartThings to Hubitat. After nearly three years with SmartThings, I decided to switch due to some concerns about the platform’s direction. I’ve got over 400 devices, so this was no small task, but it’s been a rewarding journey so far.
First, I’d like to acknowledge the incredible support from this community. The resources and documentation available have been invaluable. I’ve been able to port over many of my custom apps and automations, including my Z-Wave repeater setup for my Iris smart plugs. It’s been a steep learning curve, but every challenge has taught me something new.
One of the biggest wins has been the improved stability and control I’m experiencing with Hubitat. The ability to tweak settings directly in the Hubitat app has been a breath of fresh air compared to SmartThings’ sometimes clunky interface. I’ve also appreciated the flexibility in creating custom rules and automations, which has allowed me to streamline my home automation setup even further.
I’d love to hear from anyone else who has made the switch. What were your biggest challenges? What surprised you? I’m still exploring all the possibilities Hubitat offers, and I’m excited to see where this journey takes me next. Thanks for being such a supportive community!
