I hope you’re all having a wonderful day. I wanted to share some thoughts about the upcoming shift to Matter and how it might impact our smart home setups. For years, I’ve relied on Home Assistant to manage my devices, but with Matter on the horizon, I’m curious to explore how this might change things.
I currently have a mix of devices, mostly Z-Wave and Zigbee, but I’m increasingly drawn to Thread due to its reliability and mesh capabilities. The idea of having everything connect seamlessly through Matter is incredibly appealing. It makes me wonder if others are also considering phasing out Z-Wave and Zigbee in favor of Thread. I’d love to hear your experiences and thoughts on this transition!
Another aspect I’m excited about is the potential for Matter to simplify integrations with Node-RED. Currently, I use Node-RED for most of my automation logic, but having a unified protocol like Matter could streamline everything. I’m curious if anyone has started experimenting with Matter nodes in Node-RED and how it compares to their existing setups.
This transition feels like a significant step forward, but it’s also a bit daunting.
