Troubleshooting a Hot Doorbell: My Experience and Tips

I recently noticed that my smart doorbell has been feeling unusually warm to the touch, and I’m a bit concerned about it. The device seems to be functioning properly, but the heat is noticeable, and it’s even caused some discoloration on the surface. I want to share my experience and some troubleshooting steps I’ve taken so far, in case others are facing a similar issue or have advice to offer.

First, I checked the installation. The doorbell was installed in a sunny spot, which might contribute to the heat, but it’s been working fine for over a year. I considered whether the heat could be due to direct sunlight, but even after moving it slightly, the issue persisted. I also tried restarting the device, which sometimes helps with connectivity issues, but the temperature didn’t drop significantly.

Next, I looked into the power supply. The doorbell runs on a rechargeable battery, and I noticed that the charging light was on continuously, even during daylight hours. I suspect this might indicate a problem with the charging circuit. I tried unplugging it for a few hours to see if it would cool down, and while it did feel a bit cooler, the issue returned once it started charging again.

I reached out to the manufacturer for support, but the response time has been slow. In the meantime, I’ve taken some precautions. I’ve moved the doorbell to a shadier spot to reduce heat exposure and have been monitoring its temperature. I’ve also started keeping an eye on the battery status to ensure it’s not overcharging.

If anyone has experienced a similar issue or has tips on how to address it, I’d love to hear your advice! Have you encountered problems with smart devices overheating, and how did you resolve them? Let’s share our experiences to help each other out!
