Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with my Wyze cameras and how I managed to fix a recurring issue. I’ve been using Wyze cameras for a while now, and they’ve been a great addition to my smart home setup. However, recently I noticed that one of my cameras was acting up. It would constantly show motion even when there was none, and my lights would stay on all the time. It was pretty frustrating because I rely on these cameras to keep an eye on things while I’m away.
At first, I thought it might be a software glitch, so I tried resetting the camera a few times. But the problem persisted. I decided to dig deeper and check the camera’s settings. I realized that the motion sensitivity was set to maximum, which was causing it to detect even the slightest movements. I adjusted the sensitivity to a medium level, and that helped a bit, but the camera was still a bit too trigger-happy.
I then noticed that the camera’s firmware was outdated. Updating it to the latest version seemed to make a significant difference. The motion detection became more accurate, and the false alarms decreased. I also made sure to position the camera away from areas where shadows or natural light changes could trigger it unintentionally.
Another thing I did was set up a routine using my smart home hub. If the camera detects motion during certain times of the day, it only turns on the lights for a short period instead of leaving them on all the time. This has saved me some energy and reduced the annoyance of constant lighting.
Overall, it was a bit of a trial and error process, but I managed to get everything working smoothly again. I thought I’d share this in case anyone else is facing similar issues with their Wyze cameras. It’s all about tweaking the settings and ensuring the firmware is up to date. Happy smart home tweaking everyone! ![]()
