Troubleshooting: Can FP1E with Lutron be manual on, auto off?

I have the Aqara G410 Doorbell and hub, AppleHome, an FP1E sensor and two Lutron Casetta switches. I got them all set up and connected, although is took a little doing. I also have the smart TV set up to be turned off with the RF blaster. They are supposed to be the solution to the problem of the kids leaving the lights and TV on in the basement area where their gaming setup is.

I want the lights and TV to turn off when presence has not been detected for 10 minutes. I had the switched set to turn on automatically when presence was detected, and off when no presence was detected. However, the family doesn’t like the auto-on, and the FP1E was shutting everything off when people were still in the room, leaving people in total darkness and often ruining a gaming session. :frowning: The kids started unplugging the sensor, ruining my dream of home automation.

My last try was setting the FP1E not to trigger the lights on (you have to turn them on manually), and to only shut off after a 10 min delay when no presence was detected. The idea was that even if someone sat really still, the delay would mean that they would probably trigger the FP1E at some point and keep the lights on. Only when people had left the basement for 10 minutes would the TV and lights shut off.

Instead, it just waits until 10 minutes after you turn the lights on and shuts everything off. :frowning: Can anyone tell me what I’m doing wrong? I have the 10 minute timeout set up through Apple Home, using the extremely unintuitive Shortcuts method. Thanks!

Hello @marcnischan

Welcome to the official Aqara forum.

You need to set up automation based on the trigger: no one is detected within a specified time => Then turn it off TV and light
