Troubleshooting Contact Sensors and Alexa Routines

Hello everyone, I’m hoping someone can shed some light on an issue I’m encountering with my smart home setup. I recently integrated my Home Assistant system with Alexa, and while most things are working smoothly, I’m having trouble getting my contact sensors to trigger routines reliably. Let me walk you through what’s happening and what I’ve tried so far.

I’ve set up both virtual and real contact sensors in Home Assistant and exposed them to Alexa. The sensors are detected by Alexa and report their states accurately—‘open’ or ‘closed’. However, despite the sensors updating their status correctly, they’re not triggering the routines I’ve set up. The most frustrating part is that one of the sensors worked once but hasn’t since. The routines themselves are functional when triggered manually, so the issue seems isolated to the sensors.

I’ve double-checked the configurations in Home Assistant and Alexa to ensure everything is properly linked. I’ve also reviewed the logs to see if there are any errors or warnings that could point me in the right direction, but so far, nothing stands out. It’s possible that there’s a known issue with how sensors interact with routines in this setup, but I haven’t found any documentation or forum posts that address this specific problem.

Has anyone else experienced similar behavior with contact sensors and Alexa routines? I’d greatly appreciate any insights or troubleshooting steps you might suggest. Let’s see if we can crack this together!
