Hey everyone, I’m reaching out to share some experiences and seek advice on a few issues I’ve encountered with my smart home setup. First off, I’ve been trying to add a third 2K Wireless Doorbell to my system, but it’s been a bit of a headache. The first two paired without any issues, but the third one just won’t connect. I’ve followed the pairing steps meticulously: pressing the button for three seconds, waiting for the blue light to blink, and letting the app detect it. Everything seems to go smoothly until about 25% progress, where the blue light turns off, there’s a brief pause, and then the app shows an ‘X’ with a message that it couldn’t add the device. I’ve reset the doorbell a couple of times, but no luck so far. I’m starting to think it might be a faulty unit and I’ll need to warranty it. Has anyone else experienced similar problems with their doorbells? I’m using the AVD4001 hardware with firmware version 1.3.0.2112.ec3afed.
Another thing I wanted to mention is about firmware updates. I recently upgraded my Insteon integration, and while it added some much-needed functionality, it also broke a few things. Specifically, some of my scenes and keypads that were manually defined in a .things file aren’t working anymore. I tried removing them and adding them through the GUI, but I couldn’t figure out how to set the group numbers properly. The documentation mentioned that the binding now automatically determines group settings based on the device link databases, but I’m not sure if this applies to legacy devices. Does anyone know how to manually set group info or if there’s a workaround for this?
Lastly, I wanted to share a success story. After struggling with motioneye for a while, I decided to give Frigate a try. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, especially with the YAML configuration, but I’m starting to get the hang of it. I managed to set up basic motion detection and snapshots, but video recording has been a bit tricky. The timestamps weren’t showing up, and the videos were capturing a few seconds after the detection. After some tweaking, I finally got the timestamps to work, and the recording timing seems more accurate now. It’s still a work in progress, but I’m happy with the progress so far.
If anyone has tips or solutions for these issues, I’d love to hear them! Whether it’s about device pairing, firmware updates, or Frigate configuration, your insights would be invaluable. Thanks for being such an amazing community!
