Hey everyone, I’m hoping someone can shed some light on this issue I’m facing with my Google Nest WiFi setup. I’ve been trying to get the ‘Lost connection’ notification feature to work with the Home app, but it’s been a bit of a puzzle. Let me walk you through what I’ve experienced so far.
I have a second-generation Google Nest WiFi router, and I came across this setting in the Home app called ‘Lost connection.’ The idea is that if my router goes offline, the Home app should notify me. This would be super handy because it could indicate a power outage, which is crucial for me since I rely on my sump pump. Unfortunately, despite following all the instructions, I’ve never received a notification when the router goes offline. It’s pretty frustrating!
I’ve tested this by intentionally unplugging the router and waiting, but nothing happens. The Home app doesn’t seem to realize the network is down either. It still shows a strong connection and even allows me to run a speed test, which just hangs. It’s as if the app is in its own little bubble, unaware of the network’s actual status.
I’m wondering if this is a known issue or if there’s something I’m missing. Has anyone else encountered this problem? I’m starting to think it might be a bug in the Home app’s ecosystem, but I’m not entirely sure. If anyone has any insights or workarounds, I’d be really grateful to hear about them.
On a more positive note, I’m still amazed by how much the Home app can do. It’s just a shame when features like this don’t work as intended. I’m hopeful that with some troubleshooting and the help of this community, I can get this sorted out. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer!
