Troubleshooting Motion Sensor False Positives

I recently set up the official ST motion sensor in my living room, and I’ve been really impressed with its performance over the past two months. However, I’ve noticed something a bit concerning—false positives. Yesterday and today, I received motion alerts that seemed to occur during the day when no one was home. This is a bit puzzling, and I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue or has any tips to resolve it.

First, I want to understand if light changes in the room could be causing these false positives. I’ve been using the sensor in a room with natural light, and I’m curious if fluctuations in light levels could trigger the motion detector. Additionally, I’d love to know if there’s a way to adjust the sensitivity of the sensor to reduce these false alarms.

Another thing I’ve noticed is that once the alarm is triggered, it continues to sound even after motion has stopped. This is a bit frustrating, as I’d prefer the alarm to stop automatically once the motion has ceased. I’m wondering if there’s a configuration setting in the app that I might have missed to address this behavior.

If anyone has encountered similar issues or has successfully tweaked their motion sensor settings to minimize false positives, I’d greatly appreciate your insights. Let’s work together to make this sensor as reliable as possible! :rocket:

  • Light sensitivity adjustments
  • Motion detection zones
  • Alarm duration settings
