Troubleshooting Ring Video Doorbell in SmartThings

Hey everyone, I’ve been trying to integrate my Ring Video Doorbell with SmartThings and came across an interesting issue. While the video player appears in both the classic and new SmartThings apps, clicking the play button results in an error saying ‘Camera not available.’ However, I noticed that SmartThings does trigger a recording event, which can be viewed through the Ring app. That’s a bit confusing! I wonder if anyone else has encountered this and found a solution.

In the meantime, I’ve been experimenting with different troubleshooting steps. First, I checked the network connection to ensure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi. Then, I tried restarting both the Ring doorbell and the SmartThings hub. Interestingly, after a reboot, the latency between the button event and the execution of the first action seems to decrease, but it gradually increases again. I’m curious if this is a known issue or if there’s a way to prevent this latency buildup.

If anyone has successfully integrated their Ring doorbell with SmartThings, I’d love to hear about your setup and any tips you might have. Also, if you’ve faced similar latency issues, how did you resolve them? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

On a positive note, even though the video feed isn’t working seamlessly in SmartThings, the integration with the Ring app itself is solid. It’s just a matter of getting everything to play nice together. I’m hopeful that with some tweaking or a future update, this issue will be resolved. Thanks for any advice or experiences you can share!
