Troubleshooting Shelly 2.5 After Firmware Update

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my experience with the Shelly 2.5 after updating its firmware to version 1.9.3. I’ve been using several Shelly devices in my OpenHAB setup, and everything was working smoothly until I decided to update one of them.

After the update, I noticed some unusual behavior. The Shelly 2.5, which I use for controlling my roller blinds, started acting up. It would only move the blind about 20 cm before stopping, even though it reported that it had reached 100% openness. This issue persisted whether I triggered the movement via MQTT, the web interface, or even the wall switch. I tried resetting the device and even downgrading the firmware back to version 1.8.3, but the problem remained.

What’s more concerning is that the analog voltage reading on the device showed some erratic values when the blind was moving. It displayed 230V, which shouldn’t be the case. Additionally, the power consumption wasn’t being logged correctly during the movement until the blind stopped, at which point the readings would return to normal.

After some research and reaching out to the community, I found that others have experienced similar issues with the Shelly 2.5 after firmware updates. Some suggested that the problem might be related to the device’s calibration or a bug in the firmware. While I haven’t found a definitive solution yet, I’ve managed to work around the issue by reverting to an older firmware version and avoiding automatic updates for now.

I’d love to hear if anyone else has encountered this problem and if there’s a more permanent fix. In the meantime, I’m keeping an eye on the official Shelly forums for any updates or patches that might address this issue.

Thanks for your help and insights!

Best regards,
André
