Troubleshooting SmartThings and Alexa Integration with Samsung TV

I recently switched my internet provider and now I’m facing an issue with integrating my Samsung TV with Alexa through the SmartThings app. Previously, everything worked seamlessly, but now when I try to turn the TV on using Alexa, it responds that the TV is offline. Interestingly, I can still turn the TV off without any issues. This inconsistency is quite puzzling.

When I check the SmartThings app on my phone, the TV works perfectly, but logging in through my laptop shows the device as offline. This makes me suspect that my new internet provider, Shaw Cable, might be blocking certain ports or protocols required for SmartThings communication. I’ve already reached out to Amazon, Shaw Cable, and Samsung support, but none have provided a clear solution beyond the usual troubleshooting steps like reinstalling apps or resetting devices.

To take control of the situation, I’m planning to purchase an EdgeRouter 4 to put my Shaw cable modem in passthrough mode. This way, I can manage port and protocol forwarding myself, hopefully resolving the issue. I’m aware that many others have encountered similar problems with the SmartThings connector, but it’s frustrating that there’s little in-depth support available.

Has anyone else dealt with this issue? Any insights or technical advice would be greatly appreciated. I’m ready to dive into the details, so please share your experiences or solutions. Let’s work together to crack this puzzle!
