Troubleshooting Z-Wave Network Backup Issues

Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of Z-Wave and have encountered an interesting challenge with network backups. Let me share my experience and see if anyone else has faced something similar or can offer some insight.

So, here’s the setup: I’ve been using VeraSecure 1.7.3502 and have around 30 Z-Wave nodes, including HEATIT dimmers and thermostats. Everything seemed to be running smoothly until I noticed a significant slowdown in the system. Upon checking the logs, it looked like my HEATIT components were sending a lot of unnecessary data, such as decimal values for voltage, watts, and temperature, which I don’t really need. This constant chatter might be the culprit behind the slowness I’m experiencing.

I’ve tried configuring the Z-Wave nodes to reduce this excessive communication, but I’m not quite getting it right. The logs are still flooded with updates like temperature changes from 20.8°C to 20.6°C or wattage fluctuations from 887.91 to 890.15. It’s a bit overwhelming, and I’m not sure if there’s a more efficient way to manage this.

I came across some tips suggesting that adjusting the node configurations or even excluding certain sensors might help, but I’m hesitant to make any changes without being certain. Has anyone else dealt with similar issues? How did you manage to streamline your Z-Wave network and reduce unnecessary data logging?

On a lighter note, despite the challenges, I’m really enjoying the flexibility and control that Z-Wave offers. It’s amazing how these devices can integrate so seamlessly into a smart home setup. I’m just hoping to tweak things a bit more to optimize performance.

If anyone has any advice or experiences to share, I’d be thrilled to hear them. Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other navigate these smart home adventures!

Cheers,
