Troubleshooting Z-Wave Network Heal Issues

Hey everyone, I’m reaching out to seek some advice regarding an issue I’ve been encountering with my Z-Wave network. I recently upgraded my OpenHAB installation from version 2.4 to 2.5.5, and since then, I’ve noticed a recurring error during the nightly network heal process. The error message I receive is ‘Queue full’, which seems to occur approximately 40 minutes after the heal process begins at 2 AM. This issue didn’t present itself prior to the upgrade, and it’s causing some of my Z-Wave nodes to fail, which disrupts the functionality of my smart home setup.

I’ve tried several troubleshooting steps, including deleting all node things and reviewing other suggestions from community posts, but unfortunately, these haven’t resolved the issue. My setup includes a relatively large Z-Wave network with around 50 nodes, managed through a Synology NAS running Docker. The Z-Wave controller I’m using is an Aeotec Gen 5 USB stick.

I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced similar issues after upgrading to OpenHAB 2.5.5 or if there are specific configurations or adjustments that could help mitigate this problem. Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Additionally, I’d like to share a tip I came across for maintaining a healthy Z-Wave network. Regularly performing a network heal is crucial, especially if you have a large number of devices. I’ve found that scheduling heals during off-peak hours and ensuring all devices are powered on helps improve the process’s reliability.

If anyone has encountered this ‘Queue full’ error or has strategies for managing a large Z-Wave network, please share your experiences. The community’s collective wisdom is invaluable, and I’m eager to learn from others who may have faced similar challenges.
