Hello fellow smart home enthusiasts!
I’ve been diving into the world of Z-Wave and OpenHAB lately, and I wanted to share my experience and ask for some advice. I’ve been using an Aeon Z-Wave Stick on my Raspberry Pi setup, but I’ve encountered some random connectivity issues that are a bit puzzling.
The setup itself seems solid—I’m running OpenHAB 2.4.0-1 with the Z-Wave stick connected via USB to a hub to avoid the Raspberry Pi’s USB bug. However, every so often, my Z-Wave devices stop responding. The stick remains online, and a soft-reset doesn’t seem to help. The only fix is a full system reboot, which isn’t ideal for a seamless smart home experience.
I’ve checked the logs extensively, but there’s nothing suspicious popping up. My main suspicion is the USB connection, but I’m not entirely sure how to diagnose it properly. Does anyone have tips on how to monitor USB stability periodically or identify potential hardware issues?
On a positive note, I’ve found the OpenHAB community incredibly supportive, and I’m eager to learn more about troubleshooting hardware issues. If anyone has faced similar problems or has insights into USB debugging, I’d be grateful for the advice!
Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other overcome these hurdles. Happy smart home tinkering! ![]()
