Tuya Device Status Update Delay and Wiser Heat Pump System Configuration

Hey everyone, I’m reaching out to share some of my experiences and challenges with integrating various smart home devices into my system. I’ve been working on optimizing my setup, but there are a few hurdles I’m hoping the community can help me overcome.

First, I want to talk about my Tuya devices. I’ve noticed a significant delay in status updates—anywhere from 1 to 5 minutes after a device is activated. This is particularly frustrating when I’m trying to automate responses based on real-time data. I’ve read through forums and understand that this might be due to server-side limitations or increased request volumes. I’ve tried flashing some devices with older firmware, but the newer models just don’t support OTA updates anymore. It’s been a real puzzle trying to find a workaround without rooting my phone or diving too deep into the TuyaLocal setup, which seems a bit too complex for my current skill level. Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated!

On another note, I’ve been working with the Wiser heat hub system and iTRVs in my home. I’ve set up independent temperature sensors opposite to the radiators to get a more accurate reading of the room temperature. My goal was to create an average temperature sensor for each room by combining the iTRV sensor data and the independent sensors. I configured this using template sensors in the config YAML file, but unfortunately, only one room’s sensor is reporting the correct average temperature. The others are just mirroring the independent sensor readings. I’ve double-checked the YAML setup, and everything seems to be in order, but the min/max sensors aren’t behaving as expected. I’m hoping someone might have encountered a similar issue and could offer some insight or a potential fix.

Lastly, I’ve been experimenting with Shelly devices, specifically the Shelly 1 and Shelly 1 PM models. I’ve successfully created a switch to toggle between detached and edge button modes, which has been working flawlessly. However, I’m now looking to replicate this functionality for the Shelly PLUS 1 PM. I’ve tried modifying the existing configuration, but it doesn’t seem to be working as intended. If anyone has experience with this or can provide a sample configuration, I’d be extremely grateful.

I’m also curious about how others handle the integration of multiple sensors into a single dashboard tile. For instance, combining several contact sensors into a single ‘Living Room Windows’ tile that triggers an alert if any window is open. I’ve heard about using logical OR operations, but I’m not entirely sure how to implement this within the Home Assistant framework. Any guidance on this would be fantastic!

Overall, I’m really enjoying the journey of building and customizing my smart home system, but these small hiccups are definitely slowing me down. I’m hopeful that by sharing my experiences and challenges, I can connect with others who might have faced similar issues and learn from their solutions. Thanks in advance for any advice or assistance you can offer!
