Hello, I have 3 U100 locks and for the most part love having them but I must admit my wife is getting frustrated. They have always gone through batteries way too quickly and when they get low they operate sporadically. Constantly saying the batteries are low and thumbprints don’t work. I occasionally have to reset and connect to Apple Home. Recently 2 of them had updates which is supposed to fix battery life and maybe that is the case but 1 of them won’t update to the newest firmware. Does Aqara have a fix for this flaw or should a person just update the 1 to a U400?
Hi! Thanks for sharing your experience.
For the lock that can’t update, could you let us know which firmware version it’s currently on? We can try to reproduce and test this in our lab. The newer firmware mainly focuses on reducing unnecessary keypad wake-ups, improving cases where the keypad becomes unresponsive, and optimizing overall power consumption.
If UWB and Matter aren’t must-have features for you, the U100 is still a solid choice, and you can absolutely continue using it. That said, you might consider trying a U400 on your main door first. If you like the experience, you can keep it; if you prefer the U100, you can always return the U400 to Amazon.
One thing to note: the Matter side of U400 isn’t fully controlled by Aqara, so for first-time users it may take a bit of time to get familiar with how everything works.
Thank you for the reply, I also received an email and have replied to that.
