When this happens family members who can’t remember their Aqara code get locked out. Only solution I have found is to restart the Apple device currently acting as a Matter hub.
Why does restarting the Aqara Hum M3 resolve the issue?
@arbiter3 I understand how frustrating it can be when your U300 Door Lock occasionally disconnects, causing issues with Apple Home and Homekey. Based on the reference information, restarting the Aqara Hub M3 can help resolve such issues because it acts as a Matter controller, supporting connections with various protocols like Zigbee and Thread. When it comes to maintaining seamless connectivity, especially with devices like the Smart Door Lock U300, the M3 hub plays a critical role.
Restarting the hub can reset any temporary communication glitches between the hub, the U300 lock, and the Apple Home system. This process can refresh the network connections and re-establish stable communication pathways, ensuring that your smart lock functions properly again. If this issue persists, you might want to verify that your firmware is up to date, as updates often include fixes for connectivity issues.

Restarting the M3 Hub didn’t resolve the issue. I had to restart the Apple TV which is acting as the matter hub for Apple Home.
The challenge is that with family members who aren’t as tech savvy, this issue can lock them out. That happened and it was during a brutal heat wave and we were lucky that someone else was in the house although getting their attention was old school tapping on their window.
@arbiter3 I appreciate your patience and the detailed explanation of the issue you’re experiencing. It seems like the root of the problem lies more with the Apple Home setup rather than the Aqara Hub M3 itself. From what you’ve described, restarting the Apple TV, which serves as the Matter hub for Apple Home, is what resolves the connectivity issues. This indicates that the issue might be linked to how Apple Home handles the Matter protocol, especially during extended periods of connectivity.
For family members who aren’t as tech-savvy, a temporary workaround could be sharing emergency access methods or ensuring that a physical key is accessible if the digital solutions fail during critical moments like a heat wave.
Additionally, ensure that all firmware and software are up-to-date across your devices, as updates often come with fixes for such glitches. If the problem persists, it might be worth discussing this directly with Apple Support to see if there are specific settings or updates on the Apple Home side that could improve stability.
