I found that the lock was giving me a lot of “unresponsive” status in the Apple home app.
So I decided to remove it and just re-add it back.
However, whenever I tried I kept getting the same screen:
I I tried to go through the Aqara home app and I got the same thing:
I did some research and tried a few things, like going into my phones matter settings and removing the lock but that didn’t work.
I tried putting the lock into pairing mode, removing and adding it back to the Aqara home app and still nothing.
I have now come to the community to try and find the answers.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@hainesjon I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble re-adding your U300 to the Apple Home and Aqara Home apps! Let’s try some structured troubleshooting steps that might help:
First, for the Apple Home app pairing issue:
- Check existing bindings: Go to the Aqara Home app > U300 > … > Matter > Connected Ecosystem and remove any existing bindings to the Apple Home app first.
- Update firmware: Ensure the U300’s firmware, your iPhone, and Apple Home hub (like HomePod) are all up to date.
- Same LAN connection: Make sure your iPhone and Apple Home hub are on the same local network.
- Restart and re-pair: Power on the lock, restart your Apple Home hub, press the lock’s “Set” button, then use the Home app to scan the Matter QR code.
- Create a new “Home”: If you see errors like “Cannot add personal code” during setup, try creating a new Home in the Apple Home app.
For the Aqara Home app re-addition issue:
- Try restarting your phone and the lock, ensure the Aqara Home app is updated, and that Bluetooth/network permissions are granted.
- If that doesn’t work, long-press the reset button (you may need the admin password) and try binding with a different phone.

Unfortunately I am getting the same messages as before.
“Unable to pair”
There are no problems adding this to the Aqara app. Everything is great there.
It’s just when trying to add it to Apple home is where the issues are.
If I try to remove it from the Aqara app, and then reset the lock to factory settings, could I then try to add it to Apple home first?

@hainesjon I’m sorry to hear the issue persists! Let’s try to address your question about factory resetting and adding to Apple Home first.
First, performing a factory reset on the U300 and attempting to add it to Apple Home first could help, as it would clear any residual pairing data that might be causing conflicts. Here’s how to approach it:
- Factory Reset the Lock: Long press the reset button (you may need the administrator password to confirm) to restore the lock to factory settings. This will erase all existing bindings, including those with the Aqara Home app.
- Add to Apple Home First: After resetting, put the lock into pairing mode (press the “Set” button), then open the Apple Home app and scan the Matter QR code. Ensure your iPhone and Apple Home hub (e.g., HomePod) are on the same LAN, and all firmware (lock, iPhone, Home hub) is up to date.
If you still encounter “Unable to pair,” double-check that no other devices are interfering with the Matter pairing process, and verify the Home hub supports Matter (e.g., HomePod mini, Apple TV 4K 3rd gen).

I did everything that was suggested in order and still got the “unable to pair” message.
Just for the record, this is what I currently have in my home:
Apple TV 4K (2022, Ethernet connected) this is my main matter hub
Aqara M3 hub
iPhone 17 pro max
I have several other Aqara products as well as several home pods/home pod mini and an assortment of other smart home tech that is not using matter.
I’m unsure what the issue is now, as it worked wonderfully before I had the connection issues (hence the remove/re-pair)

@hainesjon I’m sorry to hear the pairing issue is still persisting despite your efforts—that must be frustrating! Let’s try a few more targeted checks based on your setup:
First, since you’re using an Apple TV 4K (2022) as your main Matter hub and have an Aqara M3 hub, let’s focus on network and Matter compatibility:
- Verify IPv6 support: Matter devices require IPv6 to connect. Check if your router has IPv6 enabled—try toggling it off and on again to refresh the setting.
- Same LAN for all devices: Ensure your iPhone, Apple TV (Ethernet), and Aqara M3 hub are on the same local network (no VLAN or subnet separation). Even if the Apple TV is wired, it should share the same LAN as your Wi-Fi-connected devices.
- Reset M3 Hub’s Thread network: In the Aqara Home app, try creating a new Thread network for the M3 hub (under hub settings) and then attempt pairing again.
If these steps still don’t resolve it, it might help to confirm your Apple TV’s firmware is fully up to date (Settings > System > Software Updates) and that no other Matter controllers are conflicting (e.g., multiple hubs on different networks).

I created a “test” home in the Apple home hub, and tried to add the lock there.
For some reason is works there and had no problem being added.
I even removed it and added it back.
This could be an Apple pairing issue, as it can still be added to other homes, just not my primary Apple home.

@hainesjon It’s great to hear that creating a “test” home in Apple Home Hub worked for adding the U300 lock—thanks so much for sharing this experience! It’s really helpful to know that the issue might be specific to your primary home setup, which could indeed point to a potential Apple Home app or hub configuration quirk in that particular home.
Your findings could be super useful for other users who run into similar pairing hiccups. If you ever figure out what was causing the primary home block (like residual settings or hub cache), feel free to share—community insights like this make troubleshooting so much easier for everyone!

Hi
What Aqara hub do you use?
Is it connected to Aqara by Matter already?

I use the M3 hub.
And yes, it was added to the Aqara app no problem first.
Ok , I would try to press set button while adding it to Apple home
After some research and talking to more people I wasn’t getting anywhere.
Then someone gave me a simple solution.
He suggested that I needed to clear the cache on my phone.
So a simple hard reset of my phone and it worked the first time.
Just wanted to post an update in case anyone else has this issue.
