Aqara U400 + UWB + Homey = almost perfect smart-lock vibes
Just finished setting up the Aqara U400 Smart Lock, and I’ve gotta say… this thing is slick.
UWB unlock is the star
Walk up to the door → it just unlocks. No fumbling, no tapping, no “why isn’t this working.” It feels futuristic in the right way.
Homey integration = solid
Works great with Homey, automations are clean, and it fits nicely into my broader smart-home flows.
Wife Approval Factor: HIGH
This is the big one.
- No complicated steps
- No weird delays
- Just works when you get home
That alone makes it a win in my book.
My one wish…
I really wish the Homey integration was more in line with Apple Home when it comes to user access management. I’d love to:
- Manage users directly in Apple Home
- Control who has access and when from one familiar place
- Let Homey mirror that instead of managing users separately
Not a deal-breaker, but it would take this from great to chef’s kiss.
Overall?
If you want a smart lock that feels modern, passes the spouse test, and plays well with Homey — the Aqara U400 is a strong contender. ![]()
