Installed my new U400 Smart Lock about 2 weeks ago. The installation was easy and the package contains all of the necessary documentation, parts and install templates.
Once installed, I added it through the Aqara app, then integrated with Apple HomeKit. It was remarkably easy and having the lock in both the Aqara app and Apple Home gives me the best of both worlds in terms of manageability and function.
The UWB “unlock on approach” is very responsive and works much better than the “proximity” tech that my old August Lock used. For example, my August Lock would unlock once when I was within proximity, but if the door auto-locked while I was still outside, I had to launch the app and open it by tapping the lock. With the U400, it reopens on every approach within UWB range. Love this.
Another amazing benefit of the U400 is the high capacity rechargeable battery. With my old lock, I went through 2 x CR123A 3volt batteries every month or so. So many that I setup an Amazon subscription for them.
So far, the 2 weeks with the Aqara lock have been flawless. No complaints, nor glitches with the lock. My household is a family of 7 so the lock gets a ton of use and by various aged family members and (knock wood) no one has experienced anything but what Aqara has advertised as for features and what to expect.
I plan on purchasing other U400’s for our other properties. We love the ability to create automations and scenes thanks to the plethora of options available when integrated with all my other Aqara and HomeKit devices.
Anxiously awaiting the thermostat.
