U400 UWB Unlock on Approach Not Working At All

Just installed a U400 and UWB unlock on approach has never worked even once.

It does not unlock when I walk up to it from any direction. The only time it unlocks is when I touch the keypad to wake the lock, then it unlocks immediately. So credentials and Apple Home setup are clearly fine, but UWB proximity is not waking the lock at all.

Things already checked:
• UWB cable connected correctly
• UWB enabled in Apple Home
• Unlock on approach enabled in Apple Wallet
• iPhone 17 Plus + Apple Watch Ultra 2
• Bluetooth on
• Thread border router present
• Battery over 90%

Attached screenshots show unlock on approach is enabled on my phone.

This feels like either a firmware bug or a bad UWB module. Anyone else seeing this or get it working without touching the keypad first?

Sorry for the inconvenience, this should never have happened. Have you contacted support@aqara.com? Our support team will guide you through the troubleshooting process and help solve the problem.

Yep, already did. I’ve been going back and forth with support for a while now and provided logs, videos, and multiple test results across different phones. They’ve escalated it to the dev team for further investigation.

Did you ever find a solution? I am experiencing the same issue.

I’m experiencing the same issue. I actually have two U400s and the first one works great with UWB. I purchased another one this week for a different location, and UWB does not and has never worked on the new one. I followed instructions to remove and add via Apple Home first. Still no luck.

I have an Apple TV 4K 128gb as my home hub, but also have the Aqara M100 at both locations.

Wondering if the UWB antennae is bad? I did pull out the smaller wire and it appears okay at initial glance.

I emailed support so will wait to see what they recommend.

I had the same issue where UWB wasn’t responding — this setup fixed it for me:

• Use an Apple TV 4K (3rd generation) Wi‑Fi + Ethernet as your Thread Border Router, and place it very close to the U400 (ideally within 3m — mine is directly above it).
• In Apple HomeKit, set this Apple TV as the primary Thread Border Router.
• Create a 2.4 GHz–only Wi-Fi network with IPv6 enabled on your router.
• Connect the Apple TV to Wi-Fi first, then plug in Ethernet.
• If you’re using Ubiquiti gear, having multiple hardwired access points around the home helps maintain stability.

Also:
• Turn OFF Auto-Lock in HomeKit
• Set up Auto-Lock inside the Aqara Home app instead — HomeKit’s version isn’t context-aware and may lock even when the door is open.
