Not sure if it’s a temporary issue or not, but I have tried 6 times now and it just says SAVING instead of updating my username. I think once after leaving it to work for a long time I got a 502 message. Anyway, just sharing in case it’s a site issue, will try again tomorrow.
Same for me - it also does not validate the minimum username length at signup, so I ended up with this default name!

Guessing it has something to do with the influx of new users to the forum. I assume it will be fixed soon.
