Understanding Auxiliary Heat Activation on Ecobee

I recently noticed my heat pump running for an extended period, and the Ecobee thermostat called for auxiliary heat at 5:30 AM. Despite this, the temperature didn’t recover as expected. My control board indicated that the auxiliary heat wasn’t engaged, which is puzzling.

I’m wondering if there’s a setting within Ecobee that might be preventing the auxiliary heat from activating, even when called for. Is this something others have encountered, or could it be related to how my system is configured?

Understanding the interaction between the thermostat and the heating system is crucial for ensuring efficient heating. If anyone has insights or troubleshooting steps, I’d greatly appreciate the help!
