Hi everyone, I’ve been exploring my home’s heating system and wanted to share some observations and questions I have. I’m using a combi boiler with a Tado thermostat and a few TRVs in the rooms I spend the most time in.
I’ve made a couple of assumptions that I’d like to verify:
-
If the thermostat is set to 16 degrees but one of the TRVs is set to 18 degrees, does the boiler try to provide more heat, or does it stick to the lower thermostat temperature? I’ve always thought that TRVs can’t directly request heat, especially considering there might be multiple hot water loops and thermostats.
-
On the graph screen for a particular device, I understand the mid and dark grey areas on the thermostat indicate requests to the boiler. But if assumption 1 is correct, what does this graph show for a TRV? Is it just indicating when the TRV is partially or fully open?
I’d really appreciate any insights or confirmation on these points! I hope this makes sense and sparks some helpful discussions.
