Understanding Zigbee Mesh Connectivity

I’ve been diving into the world of Zigbee and mesh networking lately, and I must say, it’s been quite the learning curve! :rocket: I recently set up a few Zigbee sensors around my home, and while they worked initially, I’ve noticed some inconsistencies in their connectivity. :male_detective::male_sign:

Let me share my experience. I have a setup with some IKEA Tradfri repeaters and a mix of sensors. The sensors in my stairwell were having trouble staying connected. After some research, I added two IKEA repeaters, and that seemed to solve the issue for the most part. But then, the sensors in my garage started acting up. :hammer_and_wrench: I’ve had the repeaters in place for about four days now, but they still aren’t repeating signals as they should.

I tried troubleshooting by resetting the sensors and the repeaters, but nothing changed. The main issue seems to be with SW3 in the garage—it only connects to the hub and nothing else. If it loses power, it won’t reconnect, and it only works sporadically. IK2 has been there for days, but no devices are connecting to it. Also, S4 fluctuates between connecting to B4 or B5—it’s inconsistent and a bit confusing.

I’ve read through some documentation and forums, and it seems like the placement of repeaters is crucial. Maybe I need to adjust their positions or add more repeaters in strategic locations. I’ve also heard that channel interference can be a problem, but I’m not sure how to check that. :adult::computer:

Has anyone else experienced similar issues with Zigbee mesh? Any tips or tricks you’d recommend for improving connectivity? I’d love to hear your insights!
