Unexpected Device Behavior: porchlight randomly turning on and off

Hey everyone, I’ve been experiencing some pretty puzzling behavior with my porchlight. It’s been randomly turning on and off for about four weeks now, and I’m at a loss for what’s causing it. Let me walk you through what’s been happening and what I’ve tried so far.

First off, the porchlight is linked to two routines: “all lights off” and “outside backyard”. The “all lights off” routine is straightforward—it just turns off the lights when I tap it. The “outside backyard” routine turns on a bunch of lights when I tap it. There are no automatic triggers set up, so it’s not like it’s supposed to come on at a certain time or based on motion or anything like that.

The weird part is that the porchlight just randomly comes on. For example, it turned on at 8:30 AM the other day, even though I didn’t tap any routines. I checked the SmartThings app, and there were no notifications indicating that SmartThings intentionally turned it on. I also have a plug-in switch that controls a window fan, which is linked to a routine that turns it off at midnight. That one started randomly coming on too, which is even more confusing.

I’ve tried a few things to troubleshoot this. I checked the routines to see if there were any overlaps or conflicts, but everything seems fine. I also looked into the possibility of interference or a database error in SmartThings, but I’m not sure how to confirm that. I even went into the system on my PC to see if there were any logs that could shed some light on this. It just says that the device was commanded on and off, but I didn’t do anything manually except turn it off through the app.

I’m starting to wonder if there’s some kind of glitch or bug in SmartThings that’s causing this. Maybe it’s misinterpreting the commands or there’s some interference from other devices. I’ve heard that sometimes devices can act up if they’re not properly integrated or if there’s a firmware issue, but I’m not sure how to check that.

Has anyone else experienced something like this? I’d love to hear if you’ve had similar issues and how you resolved them. Maybe there’s a setting I’m missing or a workaround that can help stabilize these devices. I really don’t want to have to delete and reinstate the devices or redo the routines, but if that’s the only way to fix it, I guess I’ll have to give it a shot.

Thanks in advance for any advice or insights you can share! I’m hoping the community can help me figure this out before I lose my mind trying to troubleshoot it myself.
