Unexpected Zigbee Device Behavior - How Does It Work?

Hi everyone, I came across an interesting situation with my Zigbee devices and wanted to share my experience and ask for some insights. I recently added an Aquara 6-way Zigbee wall switch to my setup, but I’m having trouble connecting it properly. However, here’s the strange part: even though I haven’t set up any rules or linked items, pressing certain buttons on the switch affects the brightness of a nearby Osram Lightify Zigbee bulb! For example, pressing button 2 dims the bulb to 50%, and pressing button 1 turns it off completely.

I find this fascinating because I haven’t configured any automation or rules to make this happen. It seems like there’s some implicit connection or rule in place that I’m not aware of. I checked the logs, but there’s no additional information beyond the state changes of the bulb.

Does anyone have any idea how this might be happening? Could it be a feature of the Zigbee protocol, or maybe something related to the device firmware or configuration? I’m curious to understand the underlying mechanism that’s causing this behavior.

If anyone has experienced something similar or knows how to explain this, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Maybe there’s a way to harness this functionality intentionally for other devices in my setup.

Thanks in advance for your insights, and I look forward to learning more about how Zigbee devices interact in unexpected ways!
