Alright , after way too many late nights and enough trial and error to last me a lifetime, I think I’ve finally cracked the code on getting Aqara devices to play 100% nice with Apple HomeKit. Thought I’d drop some knowledge here for anyone else caught in the HomeKit struggle bus.
So I started with just a couple sensors and my trusty G2H Pro — and man, those early days were rough. Devices showing “No Response” in the Home app, automations not firing, Siri acting like she never heard of my lights… you know the drill.
But here’s the vibe now: solid, snappy, and smooth. The trick (at least for me)? It’s all about the setup sequence, making sure your Aqara Hub is on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi (NOT dual-band), and keeping the firmware up to date — I can’t stress that part enough. One bad update and the whole system turns into a haunted house.
Also, don’t sleep on those Aqara automations — they’re actually more flexible than HomeKit scenes sometimes. I use Aqara’s app to do the heavy lifting with logic and link outcomes back into HomeKit so everything stays native on iOS.
If you’ve been tearing your hair out trying to get sensors to wake up, lights to respond, or doors to properly ping notifications — let’s swap war stories. What worked for you? And more importantly… what nearly broke your setup?
Let’s get some flawless Aqara + HomeKit combos out there.
