Okay, I used to think Siri Shortcuts were just a gimmick — like, why not just use the Home app and move on? But man, I was sleeping on some serious power.
I’ve been playing around with a bunch of Aqara devices (motion sensor, door sensor, temp sensor, and a couple of switches), all synced up with my HomeKit setup. Then I started digging into Siri Shortcuts…and wow. Game changer.
Here’s what I did: I set up a Shortcut that kicks off my “Chill Mode.” When I say “Hey Siri, it’s chill time,” it dims the living room lights, turns on the diffuser (connected via smart plug), sets AC to 23°C, and even pops up a reminder to grab snacks. All triggered by one phrase.
I also got nerdy and built a Shortcut using sensor triggers + automation. Like, if the door sensor opens after 11 PM, it pings my phone with “Late night munchies or break-in? ” Okay, mostly for laughs, but also peace of mind haha.
Anyone else going crazy with Shortcuts and Aqara? I’d love to see how y’all are stacking your scenes and triggers.
Pro tip: Don’t underestimate combining time of day + sensors + your own phrases. The possibilities are wild once you start connecting the dots.
