But a few months ago, I randomly picked up an Aqara Motion Sensor and a Door & Window Sensor just to try things out. Fast forward to now, I’m neck-deep into automations and I kinda love it.
The real game-changer? Setting up simple triggers that just work. Like, my hallway lights now turn on low-brightness automatically after sunset when motion is detected. Bedroom lights fade out once the door’s shut and there’s no more motion for 10 minutes. Sounds basic, but when it just works without me thinking? Magic.
Also didn’t expect the vibes change—automation made everything feel smoother around the house. Waking up to blinds opening automatically, lights slowly turning on like some movie scene… it’s wild. And all that with just like 3-4 Aqara sensors and a hub.
The best part? Aqara stuff is surprisingly reliable for the price point. No constant fiddling or re-pairing (which I had to do way too much with some other brands). And adding them to HomeKit was a breeze.
