I recently went through the process of upgrading my cameras and setting up some PTZ cameras, and I wanted to share my experience. It was a bit of a challenge, but overall, it was a very positive experience.
First, I upgraded one of my cameras from the single plan to the Cam Plus Unlimited plan. The process wasn’t too bad, but I did run into a few hiccups along the way. For example, one of my cameras was stuck on the single plan until it expired, which was a bit frustrating. However, after reaching out to support and providing my log number, they were able to move it over to the unlimited plan. It’s great to have all my cameras on the same plan now, especially with the extra benefits that come with the upgrade.
On the PTZ front, I decided to give them a try and was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to set them up. I downloaded the latest firmware from July, renamed it to Demo.bin, and followed the instructions in the app. The process went smoothly, and now I have three PTZ cameras up and running. Motion tracking, detection, and notifications are all working perfectly. The only odd thing was that under device info, it still said the firmware was the same as before, even though it didn’t work previously. But hey, as long as they’re working, I’m happy!
One thing I learned is that sometimes the firmware version doesn’t change, but the functionality does. It’s a bit confusing, but I guess that’s how it works. I also found that event recording needs to be turned on for notifications to work, which I didn’t realize at first. Once I figured that out, everything fell into place.
Overall, I’m really glad I decided to upgrade my cameras and set up the PTZ ones. It’s added a whole new level of functionality to my smart home setup. If anyone is thinking about doing the same, I would definitely recommend it. Just be patient if you run into any issues, and don’t hesitate to reach out for help. The community here is really supportive, and there are plenty of resources available to guide you through the process.
Happy setting up everyone! ![]()
