Hi everyone, I’ve been using Homematic for several years now, and while it’s been mostly successful, I’ve recently made the switch to Homematic-Pi after getting the expansion for just 10€. It was a bit of a gamble, but I’m happy to say it’s been a great move so far!
I was using a CCU1, which had been handling my heating controls, Keymatic locks, and a few other devices. It even managed a smoke detector chain. But as the CCU1 started acting up, especially when visitors were at the door, I knew it was time for an upgrade. Now, I’m considering whether to completely rebuild my system or to migrate the existing CCU1 configuration to the new setup. I’ve heard about something called virtual remote controls that might help retain some functionality—has anyone had experience with this?
Another thing on my mind is the software. While I’ve been sticking with Homematic, I’m curious if there’s another platform that might offer better integration with Apple HomeKit, which I’m really into. The idea of seamless compatibility is pretty appealing!
I’d love to hear from anyone who’s made a similar switch or has advice on maintaining or transitioning configurations. Any tips or experiences would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
