Upgrading from OH2.5 to OH3 was a smooth process for me, and I wanted to share my experience along with some tips for anyone considering the upgrade. Initially, I was a bit nervous about the migration, especially since I’ve been using OH2.5 for quite some time. However, the upgrade process itself was straightforward, and all my .things, .items, and .rules migrated without any issues.\One thing I noticed was the new semantic model in OH3. I had set up groups using the older .items files, and I was curious about how to migrate those. After some research, I found that while the UI-based approach is more streamlined, there are still ways to work with config files if needed.\I also wanted to mention the Shelly devices I’ve been using. They’ve been a great addition to my setup, especially their ability to extend network coverage in tricky areas. I’ve been able to cascade Shelly Dimmers, which has been incredibly helpful for my outdoor lighting setup.\Another topic that caught my attention was the issue with Wyze Cam V2 firmware updates. I’ve successfully updated a couple of my cameras to RTSP, but one of them gave me a bit of a headache. After some trial and error, I realized the firmware version might play a role. I downgraded to an older version and retried the update, which worked perfectly.\Lastly, I wanted to highlight the importance of community support. Throughout this journey, whether it was troubleshooting the upgrade or finding solutions for my devices, the forums have been an invaluable resource.\If anyone has questions about their upgrade or is looking for tips on integrating devices, feel free to reach out! Happy smart home tinkering! ![]()
