Hey everyone! I wanted to share my recent experience upgrading from a Raspberry Pi 3B to a Raspberry Pi 4 for my Home Assistant setup. It’s been a fantastic upgrade, and I thought I’d walk through the process in case anyone else is considering making the switch.First off, the new setup includes a Raspberry Pi 4 paired with an Argon One M.2 case and a 250GB SATA M.2 SSD. The performance boost is night and day compared to the old setup! To ensure everything runs smoothly, I decided to migrate my MariaDB database from my Synology NAS to the local SSD.One of the challenges I faced was figuring out the best way to transfer the database history data. After some research, I opted for a simple export/import method using phpMyAdmin. While I was initially worried about potential issues, the process went smoothly, and all my data transferred without a hitch. It’s always a bit nerve-wracking when dealing with databases, but I’m relieved everything worked out!I also wanted to mention the integration of my iBeacon setup for presence detection. Moving from FHEM to Home Assistant has been a great learning experience. I’ve managed to replicate my geofencing setup using the HA app and a secure webhook, which has been working beautifully. The precision of the iBeacon detection ensures that my automated welcome message plays only when I’m actually inside the house, which is a huge plus. For anyone looking to integrate their Tizen TV, I’ve been there too. Initially, I struggled with resolution issues and key handling, but after some trial and error, I found the right configuration. It’s all about ensuring the right keys are registered and testing different resolutions until everything aligns perfectly.Overall, the upgrade has been a rewarding experience, and I’m excited to see how much more I can tweak and optimize my setup. If anyone has questions or tips, I’d love to hear them! ![]()
