Upgrading to Z-Wave Gen5: Improved Range and Network Stability

I recently decided to upgrade my Z-Wave network by replacing my older Greenwave wall sockets with newer Gen5 devices. After doing some research, I was curious about whether this upgrade would significantly improve the range of my network, especially since I have a mix of devices from different manufacturers.

After replacing the Greenwave sockets, I noticed a marked improvement in the reliability and range of my Z-Wave network. The Gen5 devices seemed to communicate more effectively, and I experienced fewer dropouts compared to before. It appears that the entire network does indeed operate at the Gen5 level once all devices are upgraded, which is great news for those looking to enhance their home automation setup.

However, I did have to ensure that all devices were Gen5 compatible. This involved checking the specifications of each device and confirming that they supported the latest Z-Wave protocol. Once everything was updated, the network performed much better, and I no longer had issues with devices going offline.

If you’re considering upgrading your Z-Wave devices, I highly recommend looking into Gen5 options. The improved range and stability make a noticeable difference, and it’s worth the investment for a more reliable smart home ecosystem.
