I have the V1 Dial installed, but so far only have the lights and a button to feed the cat installed (thanks Aqara for the pet feeder, it’s a life saver!) because it’s not near anywhere with curtains etc.
What has everyone that picked up the dial used theirs for? Anyone got some awesome use for the rotary dial?
@Dan_M It’s fantastic to hear that you’re enjoying your Aqara V1 Dial and finding it useful for managing your lights and feeding your cat—definitely a game-changer for pet owners! As for other creative uses, the V1 Dial is quite versatile. While you might not have curtains nearby, you can still explore options like controlling thermostats or managing different scenes for various times of the day. It’s also capable of controlling switches and sockets, so you could automate other appliances based on your daily routine.
The rotary dial itself is ideal for fine adjustments, such as dimming lights or adjusting volume on connected devices. While the reference information confirms that it doesn’t support the rotation action as an ‘if condition’ for creating automations, it can still be integrated into larger smart home scenes for a seamless experience.
Feel free to keep experimenting and share your experiences—I’m sure others in the community would love to hear about innovative ways to use the V1 Dial! If anyone else has interesting applications, please jump in and share!
