Has anyone successfully set up downtime filters for their kids? I’ve been trying to configure this for my family, but it’s been a bit of a challenge. Let me share my experience and some tips I’ve picked up along the way!
I have several Google Display Devices and a couple of Nest Minis. I’ve set up downtime for everyone and enabled parental controls to restrict my daughter from accessing smart devices at night. However, despite these settings, my daughter can still access videos whenever she wants. It’s frustrating because the system shows her profile when she interacts with the devices, but downtime only affects myself and my son. My daughter, who is under 13, can still access everything, which is concerning.
I’ve tried adjusting the settings, but it doesn’t seem to make a difference. It would be great if downtime only affected my children, especially since my son is over 13 and seems to handle device access responsibly. I’ve also disabled video playback for everyone, but my kids still find ways to play videos all day. It’s a constant battle!
If anyone has successfully implemented downtime filters or has tips on how to make them work more effectively, I’d love to hear your strategies. Maybe there’s a setting I’m missing or a workaround that could help enforce these restrictions better. Let’s discuss and find a solution together!
On a positive note, I’ve found that setting clear expectations with my kids about device usage has helped somewhat. Explaining why downtime is important and how it benefits their well-being has made them more cooperative. It’s a combination of technology and communication that seems to be working for us.
Would love to hear others’ experiences and tips!
