Using iOS Motion Activity as a Motion Sensor: Tips and Tricks

Hey everyone, I just came across this really cool idea to use my iPhone’s motion activity as a motion sensor within the SmartThings app. It’s such a neat way to trigger actions based on my phone’s movement! For instance, I’d love to set it up so that when my phone stops moving after a certain time in the evening, it triggers a ‘Goodnight’ routine. Similarly, in the morning when I start moving again, it could kick off a ‘Good morning’ sequence. :crescent_moon::sunny:

I’ve been experimenting with the settings, and it seems pretty straightforward so far. The app detects when my phone is stationary or in motion, which is perfect for creating these automation routines. However, I’m curious if anyone else has tried this and if there are any tips or tricks to make it even more reliable. For example, how does it handle different types of movement, like walking versus driving? And is there a way to adjust the sensitivity of the motion detection? :male_detective::male_sign:

If you’ve got any experience with using iOS Motion Activity for smart home automation, I’d love to hear your insights! Let’s share our experiences and make this feature work even better for everyone.
