Using Motion Sensor as Thermostat for Heater Control

Hey everyone, I came across an interesting idea online about using a motion sensor as a thermostat, and I thought I’d give it a try. I have a heater connected to a SmartThings (ST) plug, and I was hoping to use the motion sensor to control it based on temperature readings. Here’s what I’m thinking: when the temperature drops below a certain threshold, say 18°C, the motion sensor would trigger the heater to turn on, and once it reaches 22°C, it would turn off.

I’m new to ST, so I’m not entirely sure how to set this up. I know the basics of automations, but integrating temperature sensing with a motion sensor is a bit over my head. Does anyone have experience with this? I’d love to hear if it’s possible and, if so, how I might go about configuring it.

I also wonder if there are any potential issues I should be aware of, like false triggers or compatibility problems. Maybe there’s a better way to achieve this using other devices or settings within the ST ecosystem. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help, and I look forward to learning more about this. Let’s see if we can make this idea work!
