Using Shelly 1PM for Heating Control: A Smart Solution

I recently faced a challenge with my home’s heating system and wanted to share my solution in case it helps others. In my basement, there’s an electric heating element that often switches on more frequently than I’d like. To address this, I decided to integrate a Shelly 1PM smart plug into the setup.

The goal was to control the heating element remotely without needing to manually switch it on or off in the basement. After some research, I chose the Shelly 1PM because it supports smart automation and can handle the power requirements of the heating element.

I connected the Shelly 1PM to my home network and set up a simple automation rule in my smart home platform. Now, I can monitor and control the heating element through my smartphone or voice commands. This has significantly reduced the frequency of the heating element turning on unnecessarily.

One thing I considered was whether to use the existing relay or add an extra one. I decided the Shelly 1PM’s built-in relay was sufficient, which simplified the installation process.

If anyone has tips or alternative solutions for controlling heating elements or other appliances, I’d love to hear them! It’s always great to learn from others’ experiences.

Overall, integrating the Shelly 1PM has been a positive step toward smarter home automation and energy management. It’s a cost-effective solution that has made my life a bit easier. I hope this helps someone else looking to streamline their heating control!
