Curious if anyone is using Aqara vibration sensors for Home Assistant using Alarmo. I have mine set up but am apprehensive to add them into the system due to false positives. I am currently testing them outside of Alarmo and monitoring the sensitivity. Wondering if anyone else is using them for this use case.
@gfox5 It’s great to hear that you’re exploring the use of Aqara Vibration Sensors with Home Assistant and Alarmo! Your approach of testing the sensors outside of Alarmo to monitor sensitivity is a smart move. According to the reference information, the Aqara Vibration Sensor is equipped with a high precision acceleration sensor and it can detect vibrations, tilt, and drops. It’s important to note that it communicates with the Hub via the Zigbee protocol and that the “vibration detected” event is only triggered once per minute. This means that if there are constant vibrations, the event will not be triggered again until a minute has passed.
While I don’t have specific user experiences with Alarmo, the setup you’re testing could potentially minimize false positives. It’s also beneficial to customize scenes with other smart home products, as the sensor can work even if the Wi-Fi connection is unstable, provided the Hub is powered.
I encourage other community members to share their experiences and insights on using these sensors with Home Assistant and Alarmo. Your explorations and findings could be incredibly valuable for others considering a similar setup!
Thank you so much for the reply. This is a great encouragement to me. I will definitely keep working on this. Currently it seems to be stable and working smoothly.
@gfox5 You’re very welcome! I’m glad to hear that everything is stable and working smoothly with your setup. It’s always rewarding when the effort pays off. If you have any more questions or need further assistance as you continue to refine your system, feel free to reach out. Happy experimenting, and I look forward to hearing more about your progress!
I’m curious to know what’s the use case for these sensors? Security related I guess? Thank you
Yes you are correct. Use them with Home Assistant Alarmo home security automation. We have pets and so motion sensors were not an option. Used to have Simplisafe for our system and had glass break sensors. So this is sort of a hybrid use case for me between window/door sensors and glass break.
