Hey everyone, I wanted to share an interesting idea I’ve been working on to improve the lighting in my home. I have two lights in my kitchen: one in the middle that’s controlled by a motion sensor, and another above the dining table. The problem is that I don’t want the dining table light to come on every time someone walks into the kitchen. I only want it to turn on when someone is actually sitting at the table.
So, I thought about using a vibration sensor. The idea is to attach the sensor under the table so that when someone sits down, the vibration triggers the light to turn on. I’ve been looking into motion sensors like the Fibaro or Aeotec, which also have vibration detection capabilities. I’m curious if anyone has tried something similar and if the vibration sensor can detect the subtle movements when someone sits down.
This setup would be perfect for our family because we often grab snacks without sitting down, and I don’t want the light to be a distraction in those cases. I’d love to hear if anyone has experience with this or any tips on how to make it work smoothly. It’s a fun project, and I’m excited to see how it turns out! ![]()
