Living in a rural area has its unique charm, especially when technology helps me connect with nature. Our old house up on the mountain is so secluded that the Wyze camera on the porch doubles as a trail cam! It’s amazing how often wildlife shows up—like the deer family that visits daily. I’ve seen Mama Deer with her two fawns, and even a limping creature that stops by occasionally. It’s heartwarming to observe them from afar, all while keeping an eye on the property. The Wyze camera has been a fantastic addition to our setup. I’ve paired it with some smart lighting to ensure it’s always visible, even at night. Speaking of lighting, I’ve also been experimenting with Govee’s Table Lamp 2 for wake-up routines. Setting it to gradually brighten in the morning has been a game-changer for waking up naturally. I’ve shared my automation setup with the community, and it’s been great to see others finding it helpful too! On another note, I’ve been tweaking my network settings to reduce latency issues with my SmartThings setup. Prioritizing the hub’s connection in the router helped a bit, but I’m still exploring other optimizations. If anyone has tips on managing network performance without upgrading hardware, I’d love to hear them! Lastly, I’ve been diving into Grafana integration with openHAB. Adjusting the timerange for charts using a swiper has been a fun challenge. While I’m still figuring out the variable handling, it’s exciting to see how customizable these widgets can be. Overall, it’s amazing how technology brings convenience and connection, even in the most remote corners. I’d love to hear how others integrate smart devices into their rural or outdoor living setups! ![]()
