Aqara W600 thermostat doesn’t want to enter pairing mode.

If you’re setting up the W600 for the first time, keep in mind that the device ships in Thread mode, which means it cannot enter Zigbee pairing until the protocol is manually switched via the Aqara Home app.
The protocol-switch command is only exposed inside the app, so the W600 must be added there first (Aqara account required), then switch to Zigbee, and only after that can it be paired, e.g. with Zigbee2MQTT. This step cannot be skipped.
