Vaultwarden: A Smooth Local Password Manager Experience

As someone who values both security and convenience, I’ve been thoroughly impressed with Vaultwarden (Bitwarden). After setting it up locally on my Home Assistant instance, it’s become my go-to password manager. One of the standout features is its seamless integration with the cloud via Cloudflare, allowing me to access my passwords securely from anywhere.

What really sets Bitwarden apart is its open-source nature and the variety of extensions available for browsers and mobile devices. I was also pleasantly surprised by how easily it imported my existing passwords from other services.

However, there was a minor hiccup during setup. I forgot to save the Admin-Token generated after the first run. Luckily, I found a workaround by setting up a 404 error page on Cloudflare to prevent unauthorized access to the admin panel. This tweak not only resolved the issue but also added an extra layer of security.

Overall, Vaultwarden has been a fantastic addition to my smart home setup. It’s user-friendly, reliable, and the fact that it’s open-source gives me peace of mind. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a robust, local password management solution!
