Vehicle Detection Alerts and Firmware Update Solution

I’ve been experiencing a bit of a puzzle with my home security setup. My system has been sending multiple vehicle detection alerts even when there’s no actual movement detected. My vehicle is parked, and yet the alerts keep coming in. I adjusted the sensitivity settings to 50%, but the issue persisted. It was quite frustrating, especially since I rely on these alerts for security purposes.

After some research, I came across a post mentioning that this issue might be related to a firmware update. I decided to check my Hubitat hub and noticed that it had been updated recently. I compared my logs before and after the update, and sure enough, the high number of DNS queries started right after the update. It seemed like the hub was making thousands of PTR queries every hour, which was overwhelming my DNS server.

I reached out to the community and found that others had encountered similar issues after the update. Some suggested checking for known fixes or rolling back the firmware if possible. I found a helpful guide that walked me through the process of updating my hub to the latest firmware version, which apparently resolved the DNS query issue for others.

Here’s what I did to fix it:

  1. Checked for Updates: I went to my hub’s settings and looked for any available firmware updates.
  2. Installed the Update: After confirming the update details, I installed the latest version.
  3. Monitored the System: Post-update, I kept an eye on the DNS queries and vehicle detection alerts. Thankfully, the excessive queries stopped, and the vehicle detection system returned to normal.

This experience taught me the importance of staying updated with firmware and being proactive in troubleshooting. If anyone else is facing similar issues, I highly recommend checking for updates and reaching out to the community for support. It’s amazing how a simple update can make such a big difference!

I’d love to hear if others have had similar experiences or if there are additional tips for maintaining a stable system. Let’s keep the discussion going and help each other out!
